Innovative Technology for Efficient Log Handling

Moelven Edanesågen in Arvika recently inaugurated a new, state-of-the-art facility, supplied by Hedlunds, which improves log handling via groundbreaking technology and high levels of efficiency. The new facility can process up to 45 logs per minute and precisely controls log gaps at speeds of up to 200 m/min. Key to this precision control is the feed to the saw line from both directions, which is enabled by the newly developed LineWave machine – a self-cleaning step feeder designed to withstand even the most demanding conditions.

This turnkey facility, complete with by-product processing, control systems, safety features, and service platforms, represents a modern and reliable solution. Equipped with variable electric drives for optimal performance, the facility offers minimal noise levels and a high degree of operational reliability. Replacing an older installation from 1990, the new facility delivers significant improvements in both capacity and yield, along with a state-of-the-art working environment for staff. Moelven Edanesågen’s new facility in Arvika marks a significant step forward, and Hedlunds is proud to have contributed to this innovative development.

The facility also includes a bark-handling system which processes bark from the debarking machine and stacking, as well as a comprehensive chip and sawdust management system. Two chip screens, each measuring 11 m², and a sawdust screen ensure that by-products are processed efficiently. In addition, all handling outside of the sawmill building is undertaken by shaftless screw conveyors, which are quiet, require minimal maintenance, and offer a high level of capacity.
