Log Sorting at 200 m/min

Hedlunds is the proud supplier of a new, high-capacity log-sorting system to Sveden Trä in Rågsveden. The project is characterized by its efficient trouble-shooting and rapid start-up process. In the first week alone, the system achieved an impressive speed of 37 logs per minute, demonstrating both the system’s potential and the customer’s own expertise in implementing new technologies. The investment aims to increase productivity and precision while also improving the working environment for users.

Logs are received at two loading decks, where each log is separated and quality-assessed by the operator during side transport and rotation. This initial step ensures that every log is thoroughly inspected before further processing.

The next step in the process is log measurement using the advanced Finnos Fusion X-Ray 3D frame. This frame sorts logs into 58 different bins, reaching speeds of up to 200 m/min. This system enables fast and accurate sorting, with any traces of mental being detected and removed. The first bin in the log sorting system is a control bin – logs sorted into this bin undergo a manual check of the measurement results to ensure the highest possible level of quality and accuracy in the sorting process. This extra control point confirms that the system is operating optimally and that every log has been sorted correctly.

The log bins are made of steel and filled with concrete to guarantee both robustness and a long service life. This construction ensures that the bins can handle the daily stress of large volumes of logs without compromising on durability.

The entire facility is powered by electricity, with no hydraulics used, except for the log crane. This reduces maintenance needs and makes the facility more environmentally friendly. Additionally, the facility is equipped with cleaning conveyors that minimize the need for manual cleaning, contributing to a clean and safe working environment.
