Hedlunds develops, designs and manufactures turnkey systems for log handling, primarily for customers in the sawmill industry, all across the world.

With both development and manufacturing conducted in-house, we have worked since our founding to continuously expanded our knowledge and expertise in order to offer tailored solutions for all types of customers. From small, privately owned sawmills, to large, industrial corporations, we serve both domestic and global markets.

History

Hedlunds Mechanical Workshop

Hedlunds Mechanical Workshop was established in 1967 by Gösta Hedlund and specialized in manufacturing machinery for the forestry industry. The company successfully produced and delivered products such as chippers, chip screens and various types of conveyors. The main focus was on mobile installations, although fixed installations were also produced. At its peak capacity, the company employed around 20 people at its facility in Alfta.

Ingenjörsfirma G. Hedlund AB

Ingenjörsfirma G. Hedlund AB, in its current corporate form, was founded in 1981 with a focus on the sawmill industry. In 1983, the first, brand-new sorting conveyor was delivered to Doroteasågen, marking the company’s new direction toward log handling. A few years later, the skid conveyor was developed and delivered to Dala-Järna. A major breakthrough came in 1989 when the first log sorting system to feature step feeders was sold to Åsnesbruket in Norway. This deal cemented the company’s position as a key player in the sawmill industry.

History

Part of ARAT and Storskogen

Hedlunds has undergone significant changes in recent years. In 2019, the company was acquired by Storskogen and integrated into the ARAT Group. This occurred shortly after a new design department was established in Solna. Lars Lindvall became the first external CEO in the company’s history, marking a new era for Hedlunds.

In the early 2020s, the company underwent a period of rapid growth in which it doubled its workforce. Despite the acquisition, Hedlunds has continued to operate independently under Storskogen’s business model, participating in a number of coordinated forums within the group which are aimed at increasing customer value through combined offerings.
